Bronx Commons, developed by WHEDco and BFC Partners, is a 420,000 square-foot new construction of 305 permanently affordable studio, 1-, 2- and 3- bedroom rental apartments, located at 443 East 162 Street, Bronx, NY 10451. WHEDco provides free WiFi access to all residents and guests. 

In addition to affordable housing, Bronx Commons features the 14,000 square foot Bronx Music Hall, including a theater with 250 person capacity, dance studio and rehearsal space, exhibit and reception hall, a post-production studio, and two outdoor performance spaces, among other amenities.

Bronx Commons is certified LEED Gold, features a rooftop garden where residents grow fresh produce, incorporates native plants in two street plazas, and boasts a 428-panel rooftop Solar PV installation, one of the largest such installations on an affordable housing development in New York City, among other sustainability features.

Bronx Commons also features the Melrose Community Access Support and Training Center (Melrose CAST Center), a hub for the community to engage in small business trainings, technical assistance, local networking, and resource-sharing, and for individuals and families to access WHEDco's comprehensive case management services, including access to public benefits, emergency assistance, social work services, and more. 

Bronx Commons features a fully-equipped fitness center featuring Peloton and Precor equipment. Residents of the building have free access to the fitness center. Bronx Commons hosts and WHEDco manages a rooftop farm where residents grow and harvest fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs for eight months of the year.
